An original work, made by hand in Montréal from your photos and ideas. Your animal in gold leaf, a charcoal portrait or an abstract in the colours of your room.
Marisa shows you a sketch before she starts, then a photo of the work in progress. The prices below are starting prices.

What Marisa paints on commission
Animal or wildlife in gold or copper leaf
Your dog, cat or horse, or a wild animal, painted in acrylic and oil, with the gold or copper leaf that is her signature.

Charcoal portrait
A person or an animal in black and white, in charcoal and graphite. Available with a touch of copper or gold leaf.
From $450
Custom abstract
A poured or textured canvas in the colours of your room, with or without gold leaf.

The process
How it works
Your request
Through the form below or at contact@studiomarisav.com: the subject, the size, your photos.
A short call
About fifteen minutes, by phone or video, to shape the idea.
A written proposal
A sketch, the size, the price and the timing, in writing.
The deposit
50% by card, through a secure payment link. Your spot is booked and the timeline starts.
The making
Marisa paints and sends you a photo of the work in progress.
Approval
You see the finished work in a photo. Two minor adjustments are possible at this stage.
Balance and handover
You pay the balance, then the work is handed over in Montréal or delivered.
Good to know
Terms
- Prices are starting prices, for one subject on a simple or abstract background, unframed.
- Each extra subject: +30%. An animal counts as one subject.
- Half figure: +15%. Full figure: +25%.
- Rush, in under 3 weeks: +25%, subject to availability.
- 50% deposit, paid by card; if you cancel, only the part that covers work done and costs incurred is kept. The balance is due on approval, before the work is handed over.
- One sketch and two minor adjustments are included.
- 4 to 8 weeks, counted from receipt of the deposit.
- You supply your own photos, or photos you hold a licence for.
- Once the work is approved, the sale is final.
- For rights reasons, Marisa does not paint celebrities, film, TV or game characters, or brand logos.
- You own the work; Marisa keeps the copyright.

Photos
Good reference photos
- In daylight, without flash.
- Sharp eyes: that is where everything happens.
- The animal or person at eye level, not from above.
- Several angles if possible, and one photo that shows the true colour of the coat or skin.
