Series I19 works
Tigers, a lion, horses, an owl, a fox: Marisa paints her animals with patient realism, hair by hair, often over a poured acrylic ground, then cuts through them with gold or copper leaf. The same hand also lingers on a verdigris lion statue, a ruined nave full of light and red lips biting a diamond.

Series II5 works
The ensō, the Zen circle drawn in a single gesture, keeps returning in her work in gold or copper leaf: around a crow, a raven, a charcoal face. Full moons, crescents and a mandala carry the circle further, somewhere between meditation and night.
Series III26 works
Charcoal, dip-pen ink, coloured pencil, pastel: her drawings rest on the same close observation as her canvases. Crows keeping watch on a fence, a raven hatched stroke by stroke, a woman and her bird in the wind.

Series IV7 works
Here the material does the painting: acrylic pours where metallic gold and copper trace coastlines and galaxies, and round textured canvases in matte black crossed by gold leaf. A practice of experimenting “with techniques and colors”, as she put it.

Hand-pulled silkscreens in small editions signed by the artist. Each colour goes through the screen in a separate pass, so no two impressions are quite alike.

A few portrait studies drawn on a tablet with an iPad and Apple Pencil, carrying the soft modelling of her airbrush work into digital form.
